A good friend, after his first meal at Sage in Westport, wrote that chef-proprietor Shteryo Yurukov "really seems to have found his feet / spread his wings".
A new team has instilled fresh life into this attractive restaurant, since chef Shteryo Yurukov and front of house partner Eva Ivanova took on the ownership in 2013.

The cod... read more was artfully and beautifully arranged in the center of a large white plate. Local oysters were sparking fresh, flavorful with a small scattering of caviar. The seasoning through t bee meal was subtle and hard to place, the chef does not rely on salt to enhance, he uses fine balanced herbs and spices. He's an artist. The staff provide Michelin level service. This place is fabulous. Decors very un-fancy and the prices range in the 30 euro range for mains. It's located in the center of the lovely town of Westport by the sea.
Probably the best meal and service we had in Ireland! Fresh seafood and a creative entree of turbot, lobster risotto. Delicious seafood fettuccine. Even the palate cleanser was scrumptious.

I'm gluten free as I have celiac, and I had got glutened the... read more previous night at another restaurant, so I cautiously went into this restaurant. Thankfully the waiter was extremely kind and asked the cooking staff any questions I had. I ended up having an excellent meal, as did my non-gf husband. I had a chicken dish and finished off the night with a gluten free dessert.
The service was excellent and all the tables were full when we got here, always a sign to me that it's a yummy place!
I highly suggest eating here!

It's such a cozy ambience and you must have a reservation as they only serve dinner and the dining room is small. The menu features local specialty foraged produce and sustainable seafood and meats. It is seasonal and changes as to what is in season and available. Everything is fresh beyond belief and so very creative. Such a talented chef! They have A varied menu with offerings for gluten-free and vegetarian diets. Both nights we started with appetizers, followed by a delicious soup. We had one of the best salads and beautifully constructed I might add that I have ever eaten, it was a delicate layering of baby lettuces, goat cheese, nuts, berries, Parmesan crisps, herbs, edible fresh flowers and a hard boiled quails egg...amazing! Gin elderberry Gin & Tonic cocktail with fresh berries was outstanding! They also have a great wine list with some stars from Croatia I think, that our knowledgeable waiter suggested by the glass and they were so good and paired beautifully with our meals. Everything we tried was 5 stars!
